Making sense of the Bible: Why does God allow Evil?

When tragedy strikes, one of the first thoughts a God-fearing soul may have is why did God allow this. But often people forget the independence given to Man by God.

Genesis - 3:22

And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil

Simply put, the evil things of the world are purely born of Man and if God were to intervene, then how could we ever have faith? The mere definition of faith is confidence or trust in a person or thing or a belief not based on proof. God wants us to have faith in him, so he takes care of things behind the scenes. Which is actually pretty smart.

If you were an almighty powerful God and wanted to separate the true souls devoted to you from the ones who are fickle and would simply follow you for personal gain, how could you pull it off? Showcasing your ability to achieve miracles would only turn you into a celebrity with EVERYONE becoming groupies AKA fallacious friends. You'd have a hard time telling your true followers and friends from the fake ones, which is a real problem for real life celebrities. But if you operated behind the scenes, gently nudging people in certain directions, and manipulating the smaller less noticeable parts of reality to influence people's lives for the positive, you could sit back and see who gives you thanks verses who takes pride in themselves for the good things that happened disregarding the concept of you as their God.

This is why attempting to prove the existence of God to atheists will never happen. God wants no proof of His existence to be found. Instead we are forced to seek him in spirit and connect with him mentally, which is much more fulfilling than having his physical presence and authority.  To the Divine, blind faith will always be the true test of holiness.
