When tragedy strikes, one of the first thoughts a God-fearing soul may have is why did God allow this. But often people forget the independence given to Man by God.
Genesis - 3:22
And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil Simply put, the evil things of the world are purely born of Man and if God were to intervene, then how could we ever have faith? The mere definition of faith is confidence or trust in a person or thing or a belief not based on proof. God wants us to have faith in him, so he takes care of things behind the scenes. Which is actually pretty smart.
If you were an almighty powerful God but wanted to separate the true souls devoted to you from the ones who are fickle and would simply follow you for personal gain, how could you pull it off? Showcasing your ability to achieve miracles would only turn you into a celebrity with EVERYONE becoming groupies AKA fallacious friends. You'd have a hard time telling your true followers and friends from the fake ones, which is a real problem for real life celebrities. But if you operated behind the scenes, gently nuding people and manipulating the smaller less noticeable parts of reality to influence people's lives for the positive, you could sit back and see who gives you thanks verses who takes pride in themselves for the good things that happened disregarding the concept of you as their God. This is why attempting to prove the existence of God to atheists will never happen. God wants no proof of His existence to be found. Instead we are forced to seek him in spirit and connect with him mentally, which is much more fulfilling than having his physical presence and authority. To the Divine, blind faith will always be the true test of holiness.
Note: "Mahomet débordé par les intégristes Mahomet" translates to "Muhammad overwhelmed by fundamentalists".
In memory of the 12 newspaper workers who lost their lives because they refused to let go of their freedom and God-given right to express themselves and share their opinion. Below are several of Charlie Hebdo's most controversial cartoons about Islam. In the past, the French and I may have been at odds over the name "French Fries" and the whole Google-French-Military-Defeat debacle, but that doesn't mean I side against them over the basics of the human condition.
Q: What is QFace? A: QFace is an iPhone/iPad based gaydar app I created based on a 2011 publication by Albright College, citing a correlation between facial asymmetry and sexuality.
Q: How does QFace work? A: QFace takes several facial measurements and calculates the probability of someone's sexuality based on a set of values found to be consistent between men of different sexualities. For a detailed explanation of how the measurements are taken, you can refer to the Albright study.
Q: How accurate is QFace? A: The initial study was a measurement between facial asymmetry and PERCEIVED sexuality. And as we know, human perception is not error proof. To side step this issue, QFace not only measures facial asymmetry, it takes into account other facial aspects determined through a series of equations to pinpoint the most likely sexuality. As additional versions of QFace are released, that accuracy will grow with time.
Q: So you are working on future developments of QFace? A: Indeed we are. Several additions are being made to QFace that will improve its accuracy.
Q: I have questions concerning QFace, how do I address them? A: You may email the developer privately on his Facebook page or you can post in the comments below.
Note: QFace is currently pending review in the iTunes app store.
Update as of 01/08/2015: Apple rejected the application stating it would allow a group of people to be unfairly targeted. I completely understand Apple's point of view, so I will be releasing the app in other forms, which is why it has taken so long to release.
I started a one-month Wordpress blog on a hosting account in April to test out my search engine marketing abilities. I call it a "one-month" blog because I planned on keeping it for only one month. I created it to test out my SEO abilities and make some extra income for the month of April. An issue I encountered was my theme breaking the edit and media buttons for my posts in the admin panel. This problem seemed to plague quite a few people, who like me, had no idea how to fix it.
After hours of searching I found no solution other than changing themes, which is something I didn't want to do. I really enjoyed the theme. I also wanted to avoid any time consuming solutions that involved me having to program, because, as I said, this is a one month blog for me to test out my abilities at SEO and bring in a few hundred extra dollars via a CPC program.
To my luck, I discovered a nifty plugin called Theme Test Drive (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/theme-test-drive/). Theme Test Drive allowed me to use a separate theme for my admin account, which fixed my edit and media buttons. The only down side is that you have to view what your blog actually looks like in another browser. And though this is not a permanet fix, it will at least allow your blog to continue with new posts.
And by the way, my one month blog brought in $200.00, which isn't bad for a blog I threw together in three days and maintained for only a month.
WARNING: If you are a newcomer to TOK, this blog post is full of spoilers.
The Legend of Korra is everything from the previous series and more. An uptick in the age of the new avatar gives the series a new flavor. And Korra is the opposite of Aang in many ways. She's a female, hot-headed, and tends to react quickly, as where Aang is a guy who likes to stop and think. She has very little connection to the spirit world, just mere flashbacks comparable to Phoebe's power of premonition on Charmed. Whereas Anag can easily sit, think, focus, and in moments be floating through the world of the ethereal. And most noticeable of all, Korra easily learned fire and can't produce air, Aang being the reverse.
However, there's one difference that stands apart from them all. One difference that pulls the watcher in more closely to this second series. The Legend of Korra is dark.
The music has a deep emotional tone, one that creates a sense of dread, fear, and imminent doom. An example of this is the background music that plays when Amon takes control of the radio and warns the city to shut down the airbending games or else. Even light-hearted moments, like when the radio announcer is announcing his own capture to the stadium, have a dreadful musical tone, signaling the seriousness of the situation.
And the darkness of heart break is rampant in this series, like when Amon takes control of the bending arena, takes away the bending of the champions, and escapes Korra and the police chief's grasp, signaling a clear blow to the good guys and an emotional defeat.
Another notable side of darkness in TOK is death. Death was censored in ATLA, but it took a more direct approach in TOK. Ammon's power kills the power of a bender. I define it as killing because a bender has a profound emotional response to losing his bending. The once proud airbending champion, who has his bending taken by Ammon, is seen looking like a broken down alcoholic who just lost his mother. And the most notable deaths in the series so far being at the end of season, as an explosion kills Amon and Tarlok.
Despite all the amazing differences between the two, there are plenty of delightlful similarities, like the love between Korra and her best friend, reflecting the love between Aang and Katara. And in both series the Avatar sports a powerful and intelligent animal companion, that no other person seems to have.
With that being said, I look forward to season 2 of TOK and can't wait for its return. March 2013, the rumored preimer date of TOK has come and gone and my addiction is still not fed. However, I am patient! And I know, based on past performances, that whatever the writers' come up with, the TOK season 2, similariites and differences aside, will be an amazing show.
When installing Backtrack 5, upon start up you may have an issue where it shows a black screen instead of the normal start screen with the Asian characters. You may also notice that the caps lock cursor is blinking.
Press CONTROL+E at the menu that lists the different operating systems/distributions for you to select during boot up.
You should now be at the grub file. Add "i915.modeset=1" after the word "vga=791"
Press CONTROL+X to boot
Unless you permanently change the GRUB file, you will have to do this at every boot. I do not use backtrack enough to invest time looking for that solution. However, Google is an amazing asset :-)
Note: A lot of people are saying to enter the proper command after the word "splash", but on my Toshiba Satellite, it is after "vga=791".
This was one of the most FRUSTRATING iPhone problems I've ever dealt with, and it was completely unexpected. All I did was upgrade my phone.
I noticed that after an update, my phone no longer asked me to select a wireless network. The wi-fi Button was grayed out and could not be moved or bothered.
I have an iPhone 4 running 6.1.2
Latest version of iTunes as of 03/01/13
Because I did not have anything of value on my phone, I restored it to it's original settings and file system. My phone was clean, but the wi-fi button was still grayed out.
Upon closer examination, I noticed that the MAC address for my wireless was gone. But the MAC address for the bluetooth remained. This is something that was very different. My MAC for the bluetooth and wireless has always been the same, or so I thought.
I then tried to restore my mac address.
Restoring my phone - FAIL
Resetting network settings and all settings - FAIL
Refused to try the blow dryer/ Refrigerator technique
Wrote down the mac address of my bluetooth
Downloaded evasion and jailbroke my phone
Used iSpirit to download and install SSH and mobileterminal
Open mobile terminal and type "su"
Password is "alpine"
Enter "nvram(SPACE BAR)wifiaddr=INSERT BLUETOOTH MAC HERE"
Restart your phone
Updated process as of 03/01/13, may work for iPhone 4S but is NOT TESTED as of 03/01/13:
Back up your iPhone. If you have a jailbroken iPhone, create an SHSH Blob on Cydia to preserve your jailbreak.
Write down the MAC address of your bluetooth and your wireless. If you have no MAC address or it is something odd such as 00:00:00:00:00:00, don't worry.
Jailbreak your phone using evasion. You may use other tools, but since my iPhone is updated to the latest iOS, I am limited in what I can use. The untethered jailbreak for the iOS 6.1.2 is fairly recent. http://evasiondownload.org/
Using iSpirit, search, download, and install macx4.
Hit the "Restore Original MAC" found in MacX4.
Your iPhone 4 should reboot. If it has successfully restored the wireless, it will ask you to set up your iPhone as a new phone. However, everything will be exactly how you left it. I assigned my iPhone bad MAC address causing it to lose its wi-fi and then I successfully restored everything using this app.
If this fails, download a program called SysInfoPlus from iSpirit. It will allow you to examine your phones interfaces directly and see how they are set up and with what IP addresses.
Method 2 (Jailbroken iPhones Only): Did you know that Cydia automatically saves your SHSH blob? Using a program called iFaith, you can recover SHSH blobs for older firmwares, allowing you to restore your device to a firmware without battery or wi-fi problems.
Question: Where is my mac address??
Question: Will a jailbreak hurt my phone?
It is not the jailbreak that harms most phones, though I am sure Apple will disagree. A jailbreak simply lifts the restrictions on your phone placed by Apple (IE - once you jailbreak, you can remove the restriction of some applications only downloading via wi-fi) The real harm of a jailbreak comes in to play when you start downloading jailbroken apps from dangerous and unverified repositories. So, as long as you just jailbreak for this and then restore back, you have nothing to worry about. Apple will not even notice you made the change.

I have been able to work with an iPhone 4S that has a similar issue. I WAS able to fix it by cooling the iPhone down. This suggests that your iPhones are overheating and eventually reach a temperature that cause parts of it to shutdown, however, it doesn't trigger the message "iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it." It also explains why sometimes, for some of you, the problem returns. If your iPhone is put in any situation where it, or a certain part of if overheats that is near the wi-fi antenna, it shuts the wifi off, permanently. That is technically good news, because it means you just have to keep your iPhone cool. However, I only had the phone briefly, so I don't know if overheating is a problem that can't be easily avoided. To test it out somewhat, I concentrated a good deal of heat near the wifi antenna of my iPhone 4. It had the effect of disabling the wi-fi. But if the phone itself got too warm, it would trigger "iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it." I turned my phone off and left it in a cool place. When I restarted it about 30 minutes later, everything was back to normal.

A commentor pointed out to me that MacX4 has gone missing in action. However I found a link to a deb file that's specifically designed to repair your MAC address.
I tested it out on my iPhone 4 with OS 6.1.2 and found it kept my MAC address the same. I won't go so far as to say it changed my MAC address back to its original, because like you, I don't have MacX4 to change my MAC address to something else and then use the deb file to remedy the situation. As I have mentioned before, use with caution. Back up your phone in iTunes AND back up your SHSH blob on Cydia.

I haven't heard of anyone having this issue in a while. As this post is two years old, I hesitatred to even update, however for some strange reason it still gets many views. So, if you are still facing this issue, Apple has officially addressed it here http://support.apple.com/en-us/TS1559.
We all know after the fall of Adam and Eve, the lifespan of future generations went from indefinite to several hundred years. However, in chapter 6 of Genesis, God shortens the life of man to 120 years.
Genesis Chapter 6
And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
But how can this be you ask? Are there not humans who have lived
longer than 120 years? Yes, there are several confirmed cases of people
who have lived to the age of 121 and beyond. Jeanne Louise Calment is documented to have lived 122 years before she passed. So what did God mean?
The Lord never says man will die at 120 years, he simply says that His Spirit will not always strive with man. After that, we are on our own to fend off death. He will no longer send an Angel to keep us safe in that car accident. He will no longer use his ways to stop disease from overtaking our bodies. I know The Lord is with us all the time to protect us from harm, but after 120 years, he stands back and waits for us to come home, knowing that our physical bodies are only temporary.
